Information not available
Otavite occurs in the form of a white crystalline powder and hexagon crystals.
Cadmium carbonate is not soluble in water but soluble in diluted acids, in concentrated solutions of ammonium salts and potassium cyanide (KCN) solutions.
Cadmium carbonate is a mineral also known as otavite that was first described in 1906 in Namibia. Most cadmium monocarbonate today is recovered as a by-product of the zinc refining process. Otavite is the raw material for the production of pigments for ceramic and frits.
Cadmium monocarbonate is toxic if inhaled and swallowed; very toxic to aquatic organisms causing long-term adverse effects to aquatic environments.
Request safety data sheet (SDS) and refer to points 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13.
Technical specifications are provided on request according to the application: cadmium carbonate is stored in original packing and under conditions mentioned on the safety data sheet (SDS).
