Dextran sulphate 500 sodium salt for biochemistry and molecular biology Dextran sulphate is a polyanion produced by esterification of dextran with chlorosulphonic acid. The standard product is based on dextran with a mean molecular weight of approx. 500000 Dalton. Anionic dextrans such as dextran sulphate (10 % in hybridisation buffer) accelerate the hybridisation of nucleic acids by approx. 10fold.
