The Neisser stain is a microbiological stain for visualising the polar bodies in the cytoplasm of gram-positive bacteria. This staining is used to identify diphtheria bacteria. Cells are stained with methylene blue and crystal violet in acidic solution and then counterstained with chrysoidin solution.
