Selenium dioxide may be prepared by oxidation of selenium by burning in air, by reaction with hydrogen peroxide, and by the dehydration of selenous acid. It is also the most common compound of selenium. Selenium dioxide is used as a catalyst and as a raw material for electroplating industries.
