Free acid HEPES ≥99,5 %, BioScience Grade HEPES is a versatile buffer, which is zwitterionic over a broad pH-range, interesting for biological assays, and, therefore, doesn’t pass through biological membranes. In contrast to NaHCO 3 buffers, it also doesn’t release any CO 2 which affects the surroundings and has to be compensated. Hence, HEPES is particularly adapted for cell- and tissue cultures. HEPES reacts with DEPC. It's recommended to use DNase/RNase/Protease free HEPES BioScience-Grade as soon as molecular biological applications like PCR, extraction, isolation, hybridization etc. are to be performed. Buffer reagent according to Good. High buffer capacity at physiological pH-values.
