Sterile Ham’s F12 Medium was originally optimized for serum-free, clonal culturing of CHO cells (Chinese Hamster Ovary). Besides, Ham’s F12 Medium is the medium of choice for culturing cells of rodent orgin, especially from rabbit, rat and mouse. Due to its high complexity, it is versatile and is increasingly used as a general medium for the culture of mammalian and hybridoma cells. It is the medium of choice for supporting the growth of cells in serum-free or serum-reduced conditions. When working without FBS, growth factors, hormones and lipids, which are essential for cell growth, must also be added to the medium.
