Denatured Collagen Detection Reagent lyophilized For the specific detection of denatured collagen. Denatured collagen is a new pathological marker, as numerous diseases are associated with an increased amount of denatured collagen. The detection reagent is a chemically synthesised collagen mimetic peptide (CMP) that has a stretched cyclic form ( s trained c yclic, scCMP) and an optimised anionic charge. CMPs have a collagen-like amino acid sequence (Gly-Pro-Hyp) with which they can hybridise selectively in the unfolded region of denatured collagen. Due to the unique structure of the scCMP, in which two peptide chains of different lengths are linked by a disulphide bond, the detection reagent has a particularly high binding affinity for denatured collagen. To detect denatured collagen, the scCMP molecule is linked to the bio-marker biotin and can therefore be detected with labelled streptavidin.
