Widely applied in chemical workflows, Roti ® Prep Plant RNA is a versatile tool designed for isolating total RNA from various plant starting materials. This isolation process begins with homogenising the plant material, either using a ROTI ® SampleLyse tube or a mortar and pestle, followed by treatment with one of the lysis buffers included in the kit. The lysed sample is then filtered through a centrifugation column, which binds the DNA. The typical yield of RNA is less than 70 μg, and the elution volume ranges from 30-80 µl. The preparation time for this process is approximately 30 minutes, and the basic material can be fresh, frozen, or dried plant material. The typical purity of the isolated RNA, as measured by A260/A280 ratio, is between 1.8 and 2.1. The kit is stored at temperatures between +15 to +25 °C.
